Magic Johnson Talks Candidly About His Son Coming Out as Gay

During an April 19 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Magic Johnson talked about what it was like for him when his son, EJ, came out as gay.

“I think it’s all about you not trying to decide what your daughter or son should be or what you want them to become,” the former NBA star explained. “It’s all about loving them no matter who they are, what they decide to do.”

When EJ, now 24, came out in 2013, Johnson and wife Cookie immediately gave him their full support.

“You got to support your child, because there are so many people who try to discriminate against them, so they need you to support them,” Johnson told DeGeneres.

‘Survivor’ Jeff Varner Fired By Employer After Outing Zeke Smith as Transgender

After CBS aired the most shocking Survivor episode in franchise history, in which contestant Jeff Varner outed fellow player Zeke Smith as transgender, Varner’s employer took action. “The Allen Tate Companies were built on core values of honesty, integrity and respect. Those fundamental beliefs led us to end our relationship with Mr. Varner, a real estate agent who had become affiliated with our firm just 17 days earlier.

Varner called his termination “an ugly, knee jerk reaction” and says several clients will follow him to his next real estate firm.

Caitlyn Jenner Allegedly Slams Ellen DeGeneres in New Book

Caitlyn Jenner’s new memoir reportedly calls out Ellen DeGeneres for a 2015 interview about gay marriage that Jenner feels DeGeneres took out of context in order to make her look bad.

Jenner called herself a “traditionalist” while discussing marriage, which DeGeneres later spoke out about as “confusing” during an interview with Howard Stern.

“This discussion further alienated me from members of the LGBTQ community,” Jenner allegedly writes. “Ellen’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where in my mind she even more emphatically took what I said out of context, made it go viral.”

The transgender former Olympian’s book, The Secrets Of My Life, hits shelves April 25.

‘Survivor’ Contestant Outed as Transgender by Fellow Contestant

In a shocking Survivor tribal council fraught with emotion, two-time player Zeke Smith was outed as transgender by fellow contestant Jeff Varner. The incident occurred as Varner attempted to save himself from being voted out of the tribe.

“I’m not ashamed of being trans, but I didn’t want that to be my story,” Smith, 29, said later. “I just wanted to be known for my game.”

Varner’s reckless move cost him the support of every member of his tribe, and he exited the contest without the need for the traditional secret vote.

“It’s important people see he lost that fight,” says Smith. “The message should be clear that hate will always lose.”
